Biography

Tutoring and supervision of supervised practices of students of last year to obtain the Graduate Degree in Biology (credits of free configuration). Tutoring and supervision of postgraduate stays in International Exchange programs. Technicians Training of technical personnel in the framework of the CSIC program I3P / JAE, and in Training Cycles through tutored practices.

Research Interest

My activity is focused on the molecular genetic improvement of oleaginous crops, with two objectives: (I) improvement for quality components (fatty acids, tocopherols and glucosinolates) and (II) improvement for resistance to jopo ( Orobanche cumana ) in sunflower. These objectives are addressed from a molecular point of view, including genetic studies, development of molecular markers and genetic maps, determination of genes and genetic mechanisms associated with biologically and economically important characters, and marker-assisted selection programs. It also developed molecular tools for minority crops such as Ethiopian mustard and safflower, of great relevance for the improvement and diversification of agricultural systems, as well as for sunflower juice.
