Biography
Member of the "EU-Africa High Level Expert Working Group (HLEWG) on Science, Technology and Innovation for food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture". Member of the European group EIP-AGRI "Soil organic matter content: Mediterranean region". Member of the Research Network on Agriculture for Development (IA> D). Head of the Department of Agronomy (IAS-CSIC).
Research Interest
Participatory research in agronomy for soil and water conservation and for sustainable intensification of viable cereal systems, with emphasis on developing countries: Characterization and evaluation of cereal systems in conservation agriculture in rainfed and irrigated areas at experimental plot, commercial plot and basin; Quantification of the impact of irrigation management and soil management on the emission of greenhouse gases from the soil to the atmosphere and on carbon sequestration in the soil; Diagnosis and sustainable intensification of the production of local crops irrigated to increase the food security in zones of risk.
