Biography
Dr. Pilar Gayan Sanz graduated in Chemical Sciences from the University of Zaragoza in 1990, obtaining the Doctorate in Chemical Engineering by the same University in 1995. He held a postdoctroterial stay at the British Coal (UK) in 1996 and since 1997 has worked in the Carboquímica Institute (CSIC) of Zaragoza in the Department of Energy and Environment, being Full Scientist since 2005 and Scientific Researcher since 2016. It belongs to the research group "Combustion and Gasification" of the Institute of Carbochemistry (ICB) of Zaragoza, which was recognized in 2002 as a group of excellence by the Government of Aragon.
Research Interest
The research lines of his work are focused on the development of processes energy generation in both combustion and gasification processes in solid fuel fluidized beds (coal, biomass, etc.), as well as in cleaning of polluting gases (SO2, SH2) by calcium sorbents. In addition to the the capture of CO2 by processes of Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC), and oxicombustion in fluidized bed, both from the point of view of the development of materials adequate to the process as of demonstration of the technology at pilot plant level.
