Biography
Educational Background: Ph.D., 1988, Geophysics, Universitat de Barcelona. Advisor: Prof. E. Banda. Dissertation: Geothermal gradients in Catalonia. Origin of the thermal anomalies and interpretation of the geothermal regime (in Catalan). M.Sc., 1985, Geophysics, Universitat de Barcelona. B.Sc., 1983, Physics, Universitat de Barcelona.
Research Interest
My research interests lie on large-scale tectonophysics and more specifically on the lithosphere structure and dynamics applied to the study of passive continental margins and sedimentary basins, continental collision regions and lithosphere-asthenosphere interaction. To address these questions I focused on the development of numerical approaches allowing for integrated studies of crust and upper mantle structure combining geopotential fields, thermal regime, mineral physics and geochemistry, and elastic properties. My recent research is concentrated on the study of the upper mantle structure and dynamic topography. Active research regions are the Western Mediterranean, the Iberian Peninsula and its margins, the Alpine-Himalayan System and the African continent.
