Biography
Degree in Physics from the University of Barcelona in 1998, I majored in Physics for the University of the Balearic Islands in 2003, with the thesis titled "Dynamics of spatial Structures in nonlinear optics "under the direction of P. Colet. That same year I won A three-year postdoctoral fellowship from Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council "(EPSRC) of the United Kingdom with a project entitled" Spatial structures in nonlinear Photonic crystals ". With this contract I joined the Department of Physics of the "University of Strathclyde in Glasgow". At the end of that stay in 2006, I joined the Department of Physics of the University of the Balearic Islands as Doctor Assistant and in 2007 to the IFISC (CSIC-UIB) with a contract 'I3P Doctor' for 3 years. Since 2010 I am Scientist Titular of the CSIC.
Research Interest
Fields of current interest: statistical and nonlinear physics, dynamics of extended and localized structures, dissipative solitons, homoclinic snaking, pattern formation and fluctuations in nonlinear optical cavities, cavity solitons, Kerr frequency combs, nonlocality, vegetation patterns, ecology, smart devices and power grid dynamics.
