Biography

My research trajectory reflects my interest in the influence of culture on scientific research. I graduated in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) in 2010. With the final project on Development of protein arrays methodology and its application to markers of progression in colon cancer, I started my research career. Directed by José Manuel Cuezva Marcos, professor of the Department of Molecular Biology of the UAM, I developed a methodology to predict the prognosis of colon cancer considering biomedical data of patients and social data. Between September 2009 and October 2012, I worked in the Anthropology Teaching Department of the Biology Department of the UAM Faculty of Sciences with a Collaboration Scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Science (September 2009-September 2010) and with a Assistance for Beginning of Studies in UAM Postgraduate Programs (November 2010-October 2012). I collaborated in the investigations of the group directed by María del Pilar Montero López creating databases and collecting sociodemographic data, anthropometric and eating habits from a gender perspective. Between October 2010 and October 2011 I studied the Master in Interdisciplinary Studies of Gender of the University Institute of Studies of the Woman-UAM and the realized the end order of master on Influence of the support of the pair in the correct development of the pregnancy, of the childbirth and in maternal and child health that was led by María Pilar Montero López.

Research Interest

Since January 2014 I have been doing my doctoral thesis at the Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC under the direction of María Jesús Santesmases with an aid for predoctoral contracts for the training of doctors from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, call for 2013. My work is a contribution to the history of Drosophila population geneticsin the first years of its development in Spain, 1950 and 1970 and the studies on scientific couples. The reconstruction of the biography of the geneticists María Monclús and Antonio Prevosti and the analysis of the journal Genetics Ibérica are allowing me to study the circulation of knowledge in the Spanish genetic community, in Franco's Spain and in the international context of the discipline. Between September and December of 2015 I made a research stay in the Department of History and Sociology of Science at the University of Pennsylvania with Professor Susan Lindee to expand my knowledge about the history of Drosophila as an experimental system in the laboratories where it was studied, the circulation of experimental practices and ways of working, as well as the formative trajectories of those who worked in those laboratories.
