Biography
Adrián Arias Díaz-Faes is a postdoctoral research fellow (Juan de la Cierva) at INGENIO (UPV-CSIC). He hold a Degree in Library & Information Sciences and a Master Degree in Multivariate Data Analysis from the University of Salamanca. He was awarded with a PhD fellowship at the Center for Human and Social Sciences (CCHS) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, and obtained a PhD in Multivariate Applied Statistics (International Doctorate) from the University of Salamanca. His thesis, which received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award, deals with a range of novel quantitative approaches to the study of collaboration in science. He has done research stays in the CWTS (Leiden) and the University of Copenhagen. His research falls into the field of science and technology studies and crosses the boundaries of scientometrics to statistics and research policy, with a special focus on the applicability of multivariate techniques for science mapping, the development of new indicators for assessing research performance, the study of the processes of scientific activity, and the relationship between knowledge networks and medical innovation.
