Biography
Vicente Hernández García is a researcher responsible for GRyCAP, Grid and Computing Group of High Performance of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). Since 1973 he has a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Valencia and since 1991 is Professor of the University of the Area of ​​Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Systems and Computing of the UPV. He has directed 22 doctoral theses and has 5 sexenios of research valued positively by the CNAI (National Commission of Evaluation of the Investigating Activity). His main areas of interest are Parallel and Distributed Computing, Grid technologies and Cloud Computing, as well as its applications in different areas (Science and Technologies for Health, Structural Calculation, e-Science, ...). At the UPV he has been Vice-Rector of R & D & I, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Director of the Department of Computer Systems and Computing, Responsible of CRIB-Center in Biomedical Engineering Network, and Vice-Rector responsible for RUVID-Network of Valencian Universities for the promotion of Research, Development and Innovation. He has also been a representative of the Spanish National Grid Initiative.
Research Interest
He has published over 300 papers in journals / book chapters / conference proceedings related to Parallel and Distributed Computing, Linear Algebra / Applied Mathematics, Numerical Computing and Systems Control. He has participated in more than 80 research projects funded by European programs (IST, ESPRIT, Brite / Euram, RECITE, ...), acting as coordinator in 22 of them and national (MCYT, CICYT, ERDF, Generalitat Valenciana, MICINN ...). He has been an organizer / member of scientific committee / invited lecturer in numerous national and international conferences sponsored by different scientific-technical societies (IBERGRID, ILAS, SIAM, IEEE, IFAC, MTNS, ...).
