Biography
I am a PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Seville and currently work associated with the project "Network of monitoring for species of flora and habitats of community interest in Aragón" (LIFE12 NAT / ES / 000180 RESECOM), coordinated by the researcher María Begoña García.
Research Interest
My experience as a scientist began with the development of the doctoral thesis in the field of biogeography and the conservation of species of rare Mediterranean plants. In particular I carried out a demographic, ecological, genetic study and on systems of autoincompatibility of a set of rupicolous species of the genus Sonchus of the bético-rifeña region. After the doctorate I spent one year at the University of Stirling collaborating on the project "Phenotypic variation and local adaptation in clonal Vs. sexual populations: a test using introduced populations of monkey flowers "with the research group of Professor Mario Vallejo Marín. Through the study of species of Mimulus genus, invasive in the United Kingdom, I deepened the knowledge on evolution of reproductive strategies and speciation in plants. At present, my general interest and motivation is focused on the study of the long-term evolution of biodiversity, especially plant species with a restricted distribution area or a distribution limit, in the face of global climate change.
