Biography
As a bioinformatist of the Janssen Human Microbiology Institute (JHMI), Jens conducts microbiome data analyzes leading to the identification of new diagnoses and objectives. This includes supporting the design of microbioma data analysis strategies, interpreting results and generating feasible knowledge to guide the decision-making process in the JHMI's portfolio of therapeutic projects. Prior to this position, Jens completed his PhD in bioinformatics at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). There he developed one of the first production lines of metagenomic data processing for Illumina under the supervision of Dr. Peer Bork. His work has been a key part of the meta-genomics efforts in the EMBL. Prior to this, he completed his master's degree in bioinformatics at the University of Uppsala. He has conducted research at MIT, Harvard and institutions in China, Brazil and New Zealand.
