Biography
As director of external partnerships at the Janssen Human Microbiology Institute (JHMI), Julie is responsible for advancing excellence in research planning, research activities and partnership management in different associations from discovery to early phase and phase development to support the goal of the JHMI to accelerate the translation of the exciting science of the microbiome into innovative products in multiple disease areas. Most recently, Julie served as an independent consultant and provided strategic program services and customer alliance management in the biopharmaceutical industry. Prior to establishing her own consulting firm, Julie led the Corporate Alliances team at Harvard's Office of Technology Development, with the goal of maximizing the value of existing partnerships and research partnerships at Harvard College and industry partners. In her position, Julie was responsible for a portfolio of approximately $ 40 million and was responsible for overseeing eight major drug discoveries focused on industrial alliances that included more than 35 projects. Julie worked to adapt the strategies of alliances to end products aligned with the interest and desired value of the partners, and led efforts to identify, monitor, and guide intellectual property and scientific publishing strategies in the context of a drug discovery effort. Julie also led commercial development and marketing campaigns to consolidate and expand existing partnerships through new projects. She joined Harvard's Office of Technology Development in 2011 as an Alliance Manager and began leading the team in 2014. Prior to joining Harvard, Julie worked in the Office of Sponsored Programs at Boston University, where she charged with negotiating and administering federal and industrial contracts in the space of the life sciences. Julie began her biopharmaceutical career at Merck Research Labs, Boston, Julie holds a Bachelor of Chemistry (BS) from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) major in health sector management obtained from Boston University.
