Biography

Félix Barreras Toledo is a Mechanical Engineer, with a Gold Degree, from the University of Matanzas, Cuba (1986), where he served as Professor of the Department of Applied Physics from 1986 to 1994. In January 1995 he joined the Mechanics Group of Fluids from the University of Zaragoza to develop doctoral studies with the funding of an AECI scholarship. In 1998 he obtained the degree of Industrial Engineering Doctor from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in the subject "Experimental study of the rupture and atomization of a liquid sheet", under the direction of Prof. César Dopazo and Dr. Antonio Lozano. After two years working as an Associate Professor in the Fluid Mechanics Area, in 2001 he joined the Laboratory of Research in Combustion Technologies (LITEC) as Acting Titular Scientist. A year later he obtained a position as CSIC's Titular Scientist. At present, Dr. Barreras develops his scientific and research activity in the LITEC.

Research Interest

The main line of work of Dr. Barreras is the development and application of optical diagnostic techniques in fluid mechanics. He is expert in the use of spectroscopic methods for visualization of inert flows and in the application of velocimetry techniques. Its field of activities also includes the extension of these techniques to biphasic flows, the study of atomization processes, as well as the design of new nozzles.
