Biography
Raül Santaeulàlia is an assistant professor at MOVE and UAB and an affiliated professor of the Barcelona GSE. Before this he was Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis (United States), where he was also an assistant professor. His background is in quantitative macroeconomics, where the careful aggregation of individual behavior is essential. His research focuses on growth and development. Professor Santaeulàlia is interested in the relation between social insurance, productivity, and growth. He is also interested in health issues in poor countries, such as the relation between education, risky sex, and HIV, and its effects on aggregate development. A large part of his current work also focuses on inequality from a macroeconomic perspective by studying the short- and long-run behavior of labor share and its linkages with innovation. His work in progress includes a field project in Malawi on HIV Risk, Sociocentric Transfers and Consumption Insurance with Jere Berhman (UPenn) and Hans-Peter Kohler (UPenn).
