Antoni Pessarrodona Isern

Biography

 Antoni graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Barcelona University in 1983. In 1988, he specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1989, he became Head of the Pelvic Floor Unit at Mutua de Terrassa University Hospital, Terrassa, Spain, and was appointed as Head of Department in 1999. In the field of endoscopy, he has worked both in benign disorders (adnexal disorders, hysterectomy, myomectomy, rectovaginal septum endometriosis and genital malformation surgery) and in oncology (laparoscopic treatment of cervical, endometrial, ovarian and vaginal cancers). Since 2008, he has played a contributory role in the introduction of high intensity ultrasound surgery in the field of gynaecology in Spain, essentially for the treatment of uterine fibroids and adenomyosis. Since 1994, he has collaborated in the organisation of more than 30 courses on the subjects of gynaecology, endoscopy and pelvic floor surgery. He also has lectured for more than 200 national and international courses and conferences.

Research Interest

 He is an associate professor of Gynaecology; co-director of the Master’s Degree of Advanced Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgery at Barcelona University, Spain; co-director of the International School of Gynaecological Endoscopy (EIDEG), founded in 2007 with the support of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE); and a member of various scientific societies.
