Biography
Professor Harald Hampel Professor Hampel obtained his MD at the University of Munich, Germany. He also holds an MSc from Cologne University, Germany and an MA from Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland. Professor Harald Hampel is a world authority on Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative diseases. He is Professor and AXA Research Fund and UPMC Chair at the Sorbonne Universities, Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC) in Paris, France. He is Scientific Director of the Institute for Memory and Alzheimer’s disease (IM2A) and affiliated to the Brain and Spine Institute (ICM), the Department of Neurology at the Pitié-Salpétrière University Hospital. Professor Hampel has authored more than 600 peer-reviewed papers, 80 book chapters and 8 books on Alzheimer’s disease, Psychiatry of Later Life and General Adult Psychiatry. His interests embrace the neurologic and psychiatric disorders, biological markers, imaging and genetics of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as clinical trials and drug development for neurodegenerative diseases. He has 20 years of clinical trials experience, conducting over 50 therapeutic trials. For his scientific work he received numerous awards. Dr. Hampel is senior associate editor and head of the biomarker branch of the internationally leading journal Alzheimer's and Dementia of the Alzheimer's Association (Chicago, Il., USA).
