Abel Gallego Valle

Biography

"Graduate in History for the UAB in 2011 following the itinerary of Prehistory, Antiquity and Middle Ages. Later, he completed the Master's Degree in Classical Archeology at the Rovira Virgili University, the Catalan Institute of Classical Archeology and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​finalizing it in 2016. During his visit to the UAB, he began his training as an archeozoologist at the Arqueozoology Laboratory of the same institution under the supervision of Dr. Maria Saña (2006-2010). Within arqueozoology, he began his specialization in the technique of dental micro-wear under the direction of Doctor Florent Rivals (ICREA) in 2015. This specialization is part of its Final Master's Work entitled ""Micro-toothbrush. The management of sheep and the exploitation of the environment in the Ancient Age in the Empordà (Northeast of the Iberian Peninsula) "", co-directed by Dr. Lídia Colominas (ICAC) and Doctor Josep Maria Palet (ICAC), in the who gets Honor Matrícula. During the preparation of the Master's Final Project, he has a stay in the Erasmus + Practices program at the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom), where under the tutelage of Dr. Umberto Albarella and the supervision of Dr. Silvia Valenzuela, starts with the application of statistical programs in arqueozoology, apart from extending her general knowledge in this field (March - May 2016). His research focuses on the study from the archeozoology of the management of herds during antiquity and the interactions that are generated between this human activity and the environment in which it is carried out. This research has allowed us to propose management models for sheep herds during the Roman era for the Empordà plain."
