Ana De Mesa Gárate

Biography

"Ana de Mesa Gárate holds a degree in History from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid where he also did the Master's Degree in Archeology and Heritage. The Master's final project, directed by Dr. Ángel Fuentes, on the urban evolution throughout the history of the Vega Baja de Toledo area. His interest in archemetry comes from his training in pure science, for which he has done specialized work in laboratories has always been one of his training objectives. In his professional career he has participated in several archaeological excavations in Toledo, Melilla, Pompeii and Tarragona.In 2013 he defended his doctoral thesis: ""Los morenos de Toletum"". Study of the granites and limestones of the peninsular center employed in the Roman and Toledo city of Toledo "", which obtained the qualification of Cum Laude. He is linked to the research team of the Archeology Department of the UAB as a Superior Technical Support in Research, devoted to the study of slippery materials and developing tasks of cataloging, inventory, classification, research and teaching. He is currently responsible for the ICAC Archaeometric Studies Unit, where he is also part of the faculty of the interuniversity master's degree ICAC-URV.UAB. Together with Professor I. Rodà he is in charge of the Laboratory for the Study of Lapid Materials in Antiquity (LEMLA), based at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He participates in several research groups, related to the identification, dating and study of the extraction points of slippery materials, that is, quarries, as well as the dissemination,"
