Biography
Elisenda Rentería is an economist by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and holds a PhD in Demography by the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) from Brazil. Currently, she is working at the Centre d´Estudis Demogràfics (CED) as a Juan de la Cierva research fellow (incorporación) since 2016, and has been awarded, jointly with Mariona Lozano, a research project form the Ramón Areces Foundation titled “La sostenibilidad de las pensiones desde una perspectiva demográfica: el aumento de la actividad laboral femenina y la mejora de la relación contribuyentes/pensionistas”. After her PhD she worked as postdoc researcher at the Department of Economic Theory at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon (France). During her PhD she also worked as a Population Affairs Officer at the Population Division of the United Nations (2009). Her research interests are diverse and range from the study of intergenerational transfers and population aging, to the study of adult mortality and socioeconomic differentials, as well as demographic methods.
