Biography

"Joan Gómez Pallarès (Igualada, 1960) is a doctor in classical Philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1986). In 1988 he became a full professor in the area of ​​Latin Philology at the University of Barcelona and later went to the UAB, where he has been a full professor since 2002. As a principal researcher he has participated in more than twenty national and international projects and is author of a wide bibliography, mainly on Latin literature, Latin epigraphy in verse and muscular inscriptions, as well as Roman gastronomy. In 2000, he received from the Generalitat de Catalunya the Distinction for the Promotion of University Research, in his first call. He has been a Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, Vice Chancellor of Doctorate and Continuing Education, Vice President for Research, and Vice President for Economic Policy and Planning, always at the UAB. He has also been vice-president of the CBUC and member of the plenary of the National Evaluating Activity Research Commission (CNEAI) from 2013 to 2017. He has been part of the Board of Directors of the ICAC for ten years (2002-2012), of which he has been a director since 2013. He is also the secretary of the Catalan Association of Research Entities (ACER), and as a Member of the Board of Directors, is a member of the Board of Trustees and of the Delegate Committee of the CERCA Institution; member of the Working Group of the Knowledge Territorial Innovation Territory (CTI) and the drafting of the Agenda for the innovation and competitiveness of Catalonia 2015-2020; member of the Appeals Committee of AQU Catalunya."
