Biography

Geographer and demographer. Researcher associated to the CED and titular professor of the Department of Geography of the UAB. Doctor in Geography for the UB, with a thesis on Andalusian emigration in the 20th century; Postgraduate in Methods and Techniques for the Study of Population by the CED; and DEA in Demographyby the University of Paris-X (France). He has worked at the UB, at the Institute of Demography of Madrid of the CSIC and at the National Institute of Études Démographiques in Paris (France). Its fields of interest are internal and international migrations, population projections, methodology and demographic analysis and historical demography. From 2005 to 2011 he was Secretary of the Association of Historical Demographics-ADEH and he is a member of numerous international professional associations such as the IUSSP, the EAPS, the PAA and the ALAP and national as the ADEH or the Association of Spanish Geographers, as well as of the writing committee of the magazine Scripta-Nova. Has published a total of 80 works on different demographic aspects, has taught in different Spanish and foreign universities (France, Great Britain and Colombia). Since 2006 he has been a consultant for various Spanish statistical agencies (INE, IECA and IDESCAT) and international (United Nations Population Fund, National Administrative Department of Colombia-DANE). In the period 2004-2013, he has led competitively funded projects within the framework of the National R & D Plan such as: Internal migrations, family constitution and employment: temporal and territorial dynamics ; The geographical mobility of the foreign population in Spain: socio-demographic and territorial factors ;Inflection of the economic cycle and transformations of migrations in Spain.
