Julio garcÃa espinosa
Associate professor
Numerical Methods for Engineering Calculation and Design
Pere Virgili Health Research Institute
Spain
Biography
MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering by the Technical Universityof Madrid (UPM) and PhD in Civil Engineering by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). The main lines of his research career are focused on the hydrodynamic analysis of naval structures, free surface, multi-physics, and fluid-structure interaction problems. Dr. García-Espinosa has been vice-dean for research of the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona (UPC) and is currently Head of the Naval & Maritime Department of the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). CIMNE Naval & Maritime has been awarded in 2011 as the most relevant organization in the innovation for the naval sector, by the Spanish Association of Naval Architects. He is author of more than 30 papers published in international journals, has presented more than 40 communications in international conferences, and co-author of the Encyclopedia of Computational Mechanics (Ship Hydrodynamics, 2004). In his research tasks, he has been involved in dozens of R&D projects of national and international scope, in different fields of the naval and maritime engineering.
Research Interest
the hydrodynamic analysis of naval structures, free surface, multi-physics, and fluid-structure interaction problems.
