Biography

"PhD in Geography and History (1995) from the University of Barcelona, ​​with a doctoral thesis on protohistoric societies in Catalonia through the analysis of his home architecture. Between 1996 and 1998 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the CNRS (Mixed Research Unit 5140 - Montpellier, France). From 1999 to 2003, I worked at the University of Barcelona as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2004, I joined the ICAC to start a research program on protohistoric societies and create a specialized research group in this period. I joined ICREA in 2006; since then, I have developed my research at the ICAC in collaboration with researchers from Catalan, French and Tunisian institutions. In 2013 I received AQU's advanced research accreditation. The overall objective of my research is the study of the complex societies of the first millennium BC in the western Mediterranean. I am interested in the processes that lead to the formation of these societies during the final bronze, as well as their social organization during the Iron Age (first millennium BC). From a geographic point of view, my research is carried out in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, southern France and North Africa. More specifically, my current research focuses on two aspects. On the one hand, the study of settlement patterns, home architecture and the social use of space. On the other hand, the analysis of rituals, funerary practices and use of funerary space. The combined analysis of settlement and burial sites allows the understanding of social organization,"
