Biography
"I'm a biologist from the University of Barcelona (1982), where I got a doctorate with a thesis on speciation in the common mosquito Culex pipiens in the Baix Llobregat, using morphological, genetic, environmental and physiological criteria together, simultaneously with the appearance of resistance Heredable to organophosphorus insecticides. My professional work as an entomologist was developed between 1983 and the present day at the Mosquito Control Service of the Baix Llobregat County Council, which is part of the initial management team. From here, where I am responsible for the area of control of urban mosquitoes and invasive species, I had a relevant role in the search and discovery of the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) in Spain. Although the Service is not a research body, in this period I have published some forty scientific articles to relevant publications of the sector, including many applied in the experimentation of creative treatment technologies and new type larvicidal substances Biological I also have a professional activity as a nature photographer, with interests in entomological photography and Arctic expeditions. As a result, I co-author and editor of a book about landscape astrophotography. I joined CREAF in the spring of 2016 to be part of the Mosquito Alert team as entomology officer."
