Biography
Jill Annison is an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) within the Criminology and Criminal Justice Team in the Plymouth Law School. She is the Senior Personal Tutor and the Academic Liaison Partnerships person (ALP) for the CCJS programme in 2016-2017. Qualifications Jill's early career path centred on full-time professional posts working with offenders and young people in trouble. After the award of a 1st Class degree with the Open University she followed a more academic path and subsequently completed her PhD 'Probing Probation: Issues of Gender and Organisation within the Probation Service', which focused on change in Probation. She undertook the role of Programme Co-ordinator for the BSc (Hons) Community Justice (Probation Studies) at the University of Plymouth from 1998 to 2004. This involved partnership work across the SW Region probation areas in respect of the training programme for trainee probation officers. She then moved into a mainstream role within the Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies team, while continuing to focus on Probation. 1978 Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (Probation specialism). University of Plymouth 1998 PhD 'Probing Probation: Issues of Gender and Organisation within the Probation Service'. University of Plymouth 2001 Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. University of Plymouth Professional membership Member, British Society of Criminology Member, European Society of Criminology Member (and co-co-ordinator Europe with Dr Pamela Ugwudike, University of Swansea) of CREDOS (Collaboration of Researchers for the Effective Development of Offender Supervision) Fellow of the Probation Institute Roles on external bodies 2011 - 2015 Trustee for the charity RECOOP (Resettlement and Care for Older Ex-offenders and Prisoners).
