Research Interest

I currently pursue research in the follwoing main areas: (1) The tectonic evolution of Palaeozoic and Alpine orogens in NW Europe (involves fully integrated, multidisciplinary studies – including consultancy to oil companies); (2) The integration of structural geology with palaeomagnetism to solve regional tectonic problems; (3) Mineral growth and fabric development during deformation in low-medium grade metamorphic terrains; (4) The geometry and kinematics of fold and thrust belts. I am also editing a book on “Variscan to Alpine Structure and Tectonics of Britain”, due for publication as part of the Geological Conservation Review Series.
