Biography
Fernando Ruiz Fernández (Madrid, 1962) serves as Repsol's Director of Sustainability as of May 2017. As the head of this division, he drives the development of sustainability policies and acts as an advisor to the businesses by coordinating all actions and providing support in their implementation. He joined the Repsol Group in 1989 as a processes engineer within Repsol Petróleo's Processes Division. He advanced his career in the Engineering and Refining areas, and went on to occupy upper management positions in Technology and Engineering from 2005 onwards. Over the last five years, he has also held a range of upper management positions in the Exploration and Production business, as well as in the areas of Procurement and Contracts, Production and Marketing, and Planning and Management Control. In 2015, he became part of the integration team sent to Calgary to prepare the process of acquiring the Canadian company Talisman. Fernando Ruiz Fernández is a Doctor of Chemical Sciences from Complutense University of Madrid. Moreover, he holds an MBA in Economics and Business Administration from the IESE Business School in Madrid. Mr. Ruiz has also developed an extensive teaching experience at a number of Spanish universities such as Complutense University of Madrid, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid, and Universidad de Castilla la Mancha.
