Biography
Miguel Klingenberg Calvo is currently the Corporate Director of Legal Affairs and a member of the Corporate Executive Committee at Repsol. He coordinates Repsol's legal counselling and defense services, while defining policies, regulations, and processes of action to ensure that the company's undertakings are within the established legal frameworks. He joined Repsol as Deputy Secretary General in September 2012. During this time, he coordinated Repsol's legal strategy to obtain financial compensation from the Argentinian government for the renationalization of 51% of YPF. The process came to a close with the signing of a contract with Argentina recognizing the company's right to receive compensation for the renationalization worth five billion dollars. Miguel Klingenberg holds a Law degree from Deusto University and a degree in Business Administration from ICADE. For more than 30 years, he was in private practice as part of several law firms, where he specialized in tax policy. After opening his own law firm in the early 1990s, he joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in 1998. He was partner and head of the tax department in Spain, as well as the managing partner of the Spanish offices from 2006 to 2010. Miguel Klingenberg also serves as trustee of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum Foundation, and member of the Spanish Association of Financial Law, the International Fiscal Association, and the International Bar Association.
