Biography
-License in CC Biológicas (2001) by the Autonomous University of Madrid in the specialty General Biology. Trainee Researcher (FPI) associated with a project under the development of the Doctoral Thesis in the Department of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Medicine. Postdoctoral fellow at the Ministry of Science and Technology (2006-2008) at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, USA After two years of postdoc in the USA. returns to Spain hired as a postdoctoral researcher at the CIBER of Mental Health (CIBERSAM) (2009-2011). Since 2011 he is a researcher of the Ramón y Cajal program attached to the group of Dr. Juan Carlos Leza in the UCM, where he continues to work.
Research Interest
Main lines of research are: - "Search for pro / anti-inflammatory biomarkers in humans diagnosed with psychiatric pathology (depression, schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder) in both post-mortem brain tissue and in plasma and white blood cell samples and in animal models based on exposure to stress ". - "Perivascular macrophages in the central nervous system as a target for the development of new therapeutic strategies against depression " . - "Study of innate immunity receptors TLRs and their signaling pathways in humans diagnosed with psychiatric pathology (depression, schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder) and in animal models of stress." - "Study of the Endogenous Cannabinoid System (SEC) in humans diagnosed with psychiatric pathology and in their animal models based on exposure to stress". - "Study of the neuroprotective effects of the administration of risperidone / paliperidone antipsychotics in animal models of stress and schizophrenia".
