Biography
Dr. Ignacio Mata has a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Navarra and a doctor of medicine (PhD) from King's College London (University of London), with a thesis on genetic aspects of psychosis directed by Prof. Robin Murray . Since 2001 he has been Visiting Professor at the Institute of Psychiatry in London and is currently Visiting Senior Lecturer of the Center. His research activity has focused mainly on the study of genetic aspects of psychotic disorders, both from the etiopathogenic point of view, and from its influence on phenotypic expression and response to treatment. As a result of this research, he has published more than 60 articles in international impact journals, adding more than 250 impact factor points and a "h" index of 16. Dr. Ignacio Mata has been a principal investigator and collaborator in several research projects subsidized by both public and private organizations. He is also a reviewer of several international scientific journals. Since July 2007, he has been working in the Department of Psychiatry at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, where he carries out clinical and research tasks within the Program for Attention to the Initial Phases of Psychosis (PAFIP).
