Biography

Professional Experience Dr. Hoenicka develops her research activity in the Neuroscience Laboratory of the Psychiatry Service of the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre de Madrid (since 2003) where she directs the basic research line of Human Genetics and Molecular Biology. Previously I worked in the Tissue Bank for Neurological Research (BTIN, UCM, 1998-2002) where I developed the molecular diagnosis of different neurological pathologies and directed the lines of molecular research. Training Degree in Biological Sciences, with outstanding degree, and Doctorate in Biological Sciences, with outstanding cum-laude, at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Research and Publications During doctoral training (Centro de Biologia Molecular Severo Ochoa, CBM) participated in the project of sequencing the chromosome III of S cerevisiae and investigated the expression of heterologous genes in this organism. The first post-doctoral period (1995-1997, CEDEM, CBM) determined the structure of the PCCB gene and designed the molecular diagnosis of patients. In the second post-doctoral period in the BTIN began his research work in pathologies associated with the brain, especially, after the movement. At present, he studies in patients genetic factors involved in the expression of psychiatric disorders and, in animal and cellular models, the pathophysiology of genetic findings. Has participated in more than 13 research projects financed by public bodies; directed 4 doctoral theses and at present directs 3 related to the molecular investigation of psychiatric tras.
