Biography
Professional Experience: Her professional experience has been developed in Neuropsychopharmacology Research. Specifically, he has focused his research in the area of ​​basic and clinical research in depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and pain. His most significant line of research is the study of the relationships between depression and pain. His research projects have been directed to the investigation of responsible neurobiological mechanisms, the search for pharmacotherapeutic solutions for these mental disorders and the identification of new therapeutic targets, this last in close relation with the R & D & I departments of the Pharmaceutical Industry through Projects of Technology Transfer and University / Company Knowledge. Training: He is Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cadiz since 2001. He directs the Research Group CTS-510 called Research and Development in Neuropsychopharmacology of the Junta de Andalucia since 2002. He received his Bachelor's degree in Medicine at the University of Cadiz in 1981. He is a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cadiz (1986) and PhD in Human Biology (Mention Neuropsicofarmacologia) from the University Pierre and Marie Curie of Paris VI (1998). He has been a researcher at the University of Cardiff (GB) and at the Pitie-Salpetriere Medical School in Paris. Publications: He is or has been Principal Investigator of several research projects of national character (FIS, National Plan R & D, PETRI) and European (BIOMED II). Author of 56 publications in SCI. He is a member of the Editorial Board of European Psychiatry, British Medical Jou al Clinical Evidence Mental Health and Spanish Psychiatric Records. He acts as evaluator of the National Plan, FIS and European Science Foundation.
