Biography
Professional Experience: Professional experience has developed in Neuropsicofarmacologia Research, both in the area of ​​basic research as a clinic in depression, schizophrenia, and pain. The most important line of research has been developed in the field of antidepressants, especially in what concerns the mechanisms of antinociceptive action of these drugs and in the interrelationship between dependence on opiates and benzodiazepines. In general, his entire line of research has been directed to the investigation of neurobiological mechanisms responsible for mental illnesses, mechanisms of action of various psychopharmaceuticals and clinical efficacy of antidepressants and antipsychotics. All this has been done in collaboration with R + D + I departments of the Pharmaceutical Industry through Technology Transfer and Knowledge University / Company Projects. Training: Graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1969 by the University of Barcelona, ​​he obtains the degree of Doctor in 1971 in the same University. He has been an intern or an Opposition student (Faculty of Medicine, Univ. Barcelona 1966-69), Assistant Professor (Faculty of Medicine, Univ Barcelona 1970-71, Acting Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Univ. Sevilla, 1971-74, Professor Adjunct Numerary (Faculty of Medicine, Univ Sevilla 1974-79), Adjunct Professor of Medicine (Fac. Medicina, Univ. Cadiz) 1979-84 and, from 1984 to present, Professor of Pharmacology (Fac. ). He is a member of the Research Group CTS-510 entitled Research and Development in Neuropsychopharmacology of the Junta de Andalucia since 2002. Publications: He has been a Principal Investigator and collaborator of several national research projects (FIS, National R & D & i, PETRI) and European (BIOMED II). Author of 54 publications in SCI. He acts as evaluator of the National Plan, FIS and AGAUR.
