Biography
Head of the Unit of Eating Disorders and the Unit of Early Intervention in Psychosis of Recent Start of the San Carlos Hospital of Madrid. PhD in Medicine from the University of Alcalá (1991). Specialist in Psychiatry at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid, performing a six-month stay at Mount Sinai Hospital (New York) under the supervision of Dr. Eric Hollander with the objective of training in Research Methodology in Impulsive Disorders. Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Honorary Professor at the CES University of Medellín (Colombia, accredited as PC and PCD in 2004. His research activity has been developed in the study of Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders, Impulsive Disorders and Psychosis, focusing especially on biological markers (tests of serotonergic function, hypothalamic axis activity hypoimaging, inflammatory activity) and its relationship with symptomatic dimensions, personality traits and traumatic antecedents. Author of 30 articles in indexed international journals, 22 book chapters and has presented more than 80 papers in Congresses of the specialty. She has been invited to more than 60 symposiums as rapporteur, 11 international and numerous courses in different universities in Spain. In recent years, she has developed a new line of Gender Psychiatry focused on the biological alterations, hormonal implications and factors related to stress in women's depression. She has participated in numerous research projects as a collaborative researcher and leads research projects with public and private funding in the lines of recent onset psychosis, TCA, Impulsive and personality disorders and Affective Disorders and Gender Psychiatry. He has received several Prizes (National Prize of Young Investigators, 1997, First Prize of the Spanish Society of Biological Psychiatry (SEPB) to the Doctoral Thesis, 1997-98, Prize to Young researchers accredited by the SEPB. maximum rating and has 4 in progress. Positions and appointments: National Director of Strategyof Mental Health of the Ministry of Health for Eating Disorders. President of the Society of Psychiatry of Madrid. Member of the International Committee of the International Society of Mental Health and Women. Vice-president of the Ibero-American Forum on Mental Health and Gender. Member of the Spanish Society for the Study of Eating and Vocal Behavior Disorders of the Spanish Society of Personality Disorders. Master of Leadership and Strategic Management at ESADE 2013. She is Medical Director of the Sommos Clinic Development Staff specializing in the attention of Eating Disorders, Adolescent Disorders, Depression and Anxiety in Women, stress management , Personal Development and Personality Disorders.
