Biography

Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Doctor of Medicine from the Universitat de Barcelona. Specialist in Psychiatry. He develops his care task in the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona where at the moment occupies the position of Senior Consultant of the Service of Psychiatry and Head of Section of Hospital Psychiatry. Full Professor at the Universitat de Barcelona, ​​with three recognized research sections. Professional experience: Has developed his care task at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. Director of the team of Biological bases of the psychiatry of the Institut de Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS). He is the director of the Schizophrenia Clinic Program (PEC). Publications: He has written 14 books and 69 book chapters. He is the author of more than 165 articles in scientific journals with an impact factor higher than 250. Research: It has focused on severe psychiatric disorders, especially in schizophrenia. His main areas of research have been: neuroimaging, neuropsychology, therapeutics, neuroendocrinology, genetics and psychoeducation in schizophrenia, where he has directed eight doctoral theses. He has been an integral part of the Network of Mental Diseases - REM and Affective and Psychotic Disorders -TAP) Coordinator of the Schizophrenia Clinic Group (GEC) recognized as a Consolidated Research Group by the Agency of Management of Academic and Research Resources (AGAUR). Researcher of the National R & D & I Plan 2004-2007 and Reference of the Spanish Society of Biological Psychiatry. Researcher within the Program of intensification of research activity in the National Health System by the Institute of Health Carlos III. Research Coordinator of the Institut Clínic de Neurociències (ICN) of the Clinic Hospital of Barcelona.
