Biography

Professional Experience He develops his activity at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre de Madrid (1990) where he is Head of Section (1994) and Head of the Mental Health Services of the District of Arganzuela (1994). He is also an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Complutense (1997) and Associate Professor at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (1993). He was Hospital Assistant (1981-90) for the attention to SAT in several Hospitals of the Community of Madrid: La Paz, Ramon y Cajal, La Princesa and Fundacion Jimenez Diaz, and Provincial Coordinator of Psychiatry for SAT (1983-85). Training I specialize in psychiatry between 1976 and 1981 at the Jimenez Diaz Foundation. Graduated Degree, with outstanding degree, and Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery, with outstanding and cum-laude, at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is also qualified as a University Expert in Alcoholism and an Expert in Probability and Medical Statistics. Research and Publications In 1996 I created the Unit of Alcoholism and Dual Pathology in the Psychiatry Service and since then has developed an applied research program on addictions, psychoses and vulnerability factors. He has participated as a principal investigator or co-investigator in more than 13 funded research projects and as an author in over 35 books, 49 chapters, 32 articles, 54 national papers, 75 papers and 86 congress papers. He has been an organizer member of more than 7 International Congresses and 9 National Congresses and is a Patron of the Brain and Mind Foundation, as well as a member of several professional societies and a reviewer of public research projects.
