Biography
Training Neus Barrantes-Vidal obtained her PhD in Psychology in 2000 at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). Additionally, she conducted a masters program on clinical training at the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, becoming a licensed clinical psychologist (Psychologist Specialist in Clinical Psychology). During her predoctoral training, she was an academic visitor of Prof. Claridge at the Department of Experimental Psychology (University of Oxford). She holds a permanent lecturer (Assistant Professor) since 2002 in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at UAB. Professional Experience Her professional career integrates the experience derived from clinical practice with research and teaching. The research work she has developed in the PhD project based on the follow-up of nonclinical adolescents presenting with putative high-risk indicators for psychosis, including neurocognitive impairment, schizotypy, and markers of neurodevelopmental suffering. This project spanned for 11 years. Her current work keeps this line of research, with a focus on the person-environment interaction in understanding the vulnerability to psychosis and the expression of schizotypy in nonclinical alte activates phenotypes. Additionally, she has an interest in the hypothesized association between schizotypy and bipolar temperaments with a creativity advantage. Her interest in an integrated approach to mental disorders led Prof. Barrantes-Vidal to participate in Prof. Fananas projects on gene-environment interactions in psychosis and depression.
