Mark A. Del Beccaro

Biography

Mark A. Del Beccaro, MD, is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Seattle Childrens Hospital. He is also an attending physician in the Seattle Childrens Emergency Department and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Del Beccaro first worked for Seattle Childrens in 1979 prior to entering the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1981. After graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine in 1985, Dr. Del Beccaro completed his pediatric residency at Seattle Childrens Hospital and then became the Chief Pediatric Resident at Seattle Childrens Hospital in 1988. He has held several positions at Seattle Childrens including Associate Chief, Emergency Services from 1999 to 2006, Chief Medical Information Officer from 1997 to 2011, Pediatrician in Chief from 2007 to 2012 and most recently the Vice President for Medical Affairs from 2012 to 2014. He completed a program in medical management at the University of Washington. Dr. Del Beccaro is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. He has been involved in many regional and national associations with a focus on improving the quality of care. He is the current chair for the American Academy of Pediatrics Council Management Committee.  In October, 2014 he was selected for his current position as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Del Beccaro is a Professor of Pediatrics at UWSOM and an Adjunct Professor in both the UW Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics and the Department of Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine. He obtained his undergraduate degree with honors in Biologic Sciences in 1979 from Stanford University.
