Biography
José Luis Gómez-Navarro is Telefónica’s Director of Corporate Communications and Institutional Marketing and is a member of the company’s Executive Committee. Gómez-Navarro takes up the position after a 15-year stint as Strategic Consultant for the company, mainly for markets in Latin American. From that position and with considerable experience in the field, he has accompanied and advised in major operations, positioning, corporate communication strategies and Telefónica operations. A great connoisseur of international markets, Gómez-Navarro has had responsibilities as a strategic consultant for large groups in Latin America since 1979, and in China for almost 10 years in terms of positioning, financial strategy and business start-up. He is Editor, General Director and Advisor of Foreign Policy Studies, S.A., a company that publishes magazines such as Foreign Policy (leader in the field that has signatures of global leaders, experts and prestigious journalists, and has one of the most important websites in Spanish on international relations in the world), Foreign Economy and Afkar (specialized in North Africa, and published and distributed in Spanish and French). He was General Director of the then Ortega y Gasset Foundation - Ortega y Gasset University Institute. He has also been manager at several publications, such as Ibero-American Thought (published in collaboration with ECLAC) and Revista de Occidente. He holds an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa and a PhD in History from the Complutense University of Madrid. Visiting Professor at the University of Minnesota, he was General Director of the Institute of Education Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is also a professor of Economic History at the Department of Social History and Political Thinking at the UNED (National Distance Education University).
