Biography
Antonio Martinón Cejas was born in La Laguna in 1950. He studied at the Nava La Salle School and in the Institutes of La Laguna and Santa Cruz. He attended the first year of the Degree in Sciences (Mathematics Section) at the University of La Laguna (1967-68) and the remaining four at the University of Zaragoza (1968-72). He joined the University of La Laguna in 1972, where he taught until 1977 in Mathematics studies, created in 1969. In 1974 he obtained a post of Professor of Baccalaureate and in 1980 of Professor of Baccalaureate. It was destined in Institutes Poeta Viana (Santa Cruz), GuÃa de Isora, Icod de los Vinos, La Orotava and Barrio de la AlegrÃa (Santa Cruz). He read his doctoral thesis in 1989 at the University of La Laguna, which was incorporated that same year. In 1991 he obtained a position as Professor and in 2002 he was Professor. He has been director of the Department of Mathematical Analysis (1991-93) and dean of the Faculty of Mathematics (2010-14) of the University of La Laguna. His research has focused on Functional Analysis and Operator Theory. In this field, he is the author of more than fifty publications, has participated or directed several research projects, and co-directed two doctoral theses and one more that is under development.
