Dr. Noemí Lana-renault Monreal

Researcher
Earth Surface Hydrology
Universidad de La Rioja
Spain

Biography

Noemi Lana-Renault Monreal joined the Department of Human Sciences of the University of La Rioja in 2011 as a postdoctoral researcher on the Juan de La Cierva program. Its main line of research focuses on the hydrological and geomorphological impact of land abandonment, especially in the Mediterranean region. Noemí holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Zaragoza (2008). He developed his doctoral thesis at the Instituto Pirenaico de Ecología (CSIC) and later held a postdoctoral post in the Department of Physical Geography of the University of Utrecht (2009-2010) in the Netherlands. She is currently a guest researcher in the group Earth Surface Hydrologyof this Department, working with a physical model (developed in PCRaster Python environment) to investigate the effects of vegetation recovery after land abandonment on hydrological processes. His work in the UR is focused on the study of the hydrogeomorphological dynamics of the abandonment of aban- doned areas. Most of his research is carried out in the experimental basin of Munilla, in the Cidacos valley. Noemi also teaches practical classes in the degree of Geography and History. He is member of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences and of the Spanish Society of Geomorphology, as well as of the committee of writing of Notebooks of Geographical Investigation.
