Biography

She holds a degree in Biological Sciences in 1972 from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and has been a Cellular Biology Professor at the University of Málaga since 1999. She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences in 1975 at the University of La Laguna de Tenerife. Adjunct professor numerary in 1979. During the 1982-83 academic year, she worked at the University of Ulm (Germany) and later was appointed titular professor of Cell Biology in 1983 in the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of Málaga and in 1999 Professor of Cell Biology at the University from Malaga. Among other academic positions, she has been Assistant Director of Open Courses at the University of Málaga (1989), Deputy Vice-Rector of Research at the University of Málaga (1990-92), Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Sciences (1994) and Vice- Universidad de Málaga between 1994 and 2003. Since 2004 she is the rector of the University of Málaga.
