Biography

Professor of the Department of Plant Biology at the University College of Malaga from 1972 to 1976 and since that date in the UMA. Professor of Plant Biology since 1983. He has directed and participated as a researcher in numerous research papers and numerous reports for public administrations and Business. His scientific work focuses on the study of plant communities, Mediterranean ecosystems and extreme habitats, being the author of more than one hundred publications in this field. He has been Director of the Department of Botany of the University College of Malaga 1972-80, Vice-Rector of Research 1984-86, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sciences 1986-1993, Dean in functions of the same Faculty 1993-94, Director of the Experimental Center Grice-Hutchinson 1994- 2008, First Director of the Botanical Garden of the UMA 1998-2009, Director-Manager of the Botanical Garden History of the Conception of 2009-2012. Malaga Research Award 1978, National Urbanism Award 1978 as a member of the team editor of the work: Pilot study for the protection of the physical environment in an area of ​​the environment from Malaga. President of the Malagan Academy of Sciences and Vice-President of the Institute of Academies of Andalusia.
