Biography
Antonia Gutiérrez Pérez holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Málaga (1991). After a postdoctoral scientific specialization of three years in the United States, she returned to the UMA in 1994 with a Contract of Reincorporation of the Ministry of Education and Science and later as Full Professor of Cell Biology (1995-2010). Since 2011 she is Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Málaga.Since 2007 she is Principal Investigator of the Center for Biomedical Research in Network on Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIBERNED), an organization belonging to the Carlos III Health Institute and designated as a Center of Excellence within the CoEN International Network at the proposal of the European Union. Her group is part of CIBERNED Program 1 dedicated to Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias (www.ciberned.es).
