Biography
Graduate in Biological Sciences (1987) and Doctorate in Biological Sciences (1993), Both in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Malaga. Professor of Botany at the University of Málaga since 2008. He has held stays of Research at the Robert Hill Institute (University of Sheffield, England), Uppsala University (Sweden), Kobe University Research Center for Inland Seas (Kobe, Japan), Alfred-Wegener-Institut für Polar-und Meeresforschung (Bremerhaven, Germany) and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (Townsville, Australia); In addition, he has participated in two expeditions to Antarctica ( BENTART, 1994 and 1995). His scientific works are devoted to two different lines. On the one hand, Flora and ecophysiology of marine macroalgae of the Andalusian coasts and, on the other, to the evolution Experimental study of photosynthetic microorganisms (cyanobacteria and microalgae). He has participated in 11 research projects. He is the author of more than one hundred publications Scientific, and associate editor of three scientific journals. Since 2011 he is Secretary of the Department of Plant Biology and Coordinator of the area of ​​Botany Of said department.
