Biography

Graduated in Biology in 2000 in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Málaga and the Doctorate in the Plant Physiology in 2005, having done the work With a University Teacher Training Fellowship attached to the Experimental Station "La Mayora" -CSIC and in collaboration with the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry of the University of Malaga. Collaboration Fellow (1999-2000) in the Department of Plant Biology, area of Plant Physiology of the University of Málaga and, after the thesis, researcher contracted in this same area (2005-2006) until it is transferred to the Department of Plant Biology in Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) with a postdoctoral fellowship from the Ministry of Education and Science within the Fulbright program (2006-2008). Continue as researcher Postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell University until 2011. In 2012 he joined as Researcher Contracted to the Department of Plant Biology at the University of Málaga in the Subprogram "Ramón y Cajal" of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. His scientific work includes the study of the biophysical properties of cuticles Vegetables and their response to environmental variables, the differences between cultivars tomato and its relation with pathophysiologies such as the cracking of tomato fruit. In its Postdoctoral stage worked on projects related to the structure of the cell wall Of plants and the softening process of fruits, in addition to expression studies Specific genetics in tissues and their relation to fruit quality, biotechnology of horticultural species and the use of tools to analyze phenotypic data. He teaches in various subjects of the Plant Physiology Area of the Department of Plant Biology of the University of Málaga and is a strong supporter of the Free software and open access to data and research results.
