Biography
J. Becerra holds a degree and doctor (1976) in Biological Sciences from the University of Granada. Adjunct Professor of Cytology and Histology in 1978 and Professor of Cell Biology since 1989, at the University of Málaga (UMA). He has been Secretary (1978-81), Deputy Dean (1984-86) and Dean (1986-93) of the Faculty of Sciences of the UMA. He has been director of the Department of Cell Biology, Genetics and Physiology of the UMA since 1994. From 2001 to 2003 he was director of the Andalusian Laboratory of Biology (LAB) (Seville) of the Junta de Andalucía, which was reconverted and Mandate, as a joint center of the CSIC-University Pablo de Olavide-Junta de Andalucía with the name of Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology (CABD). Member of the Technical Committee of the National Bank of Cell Lines (2006-12); Patron of the Board of Trustees of FIMABIS (2005-12); Member of the ANECA Science Commission for the evaluation of university professors (2007-11); Member of the steering committee and coordinator of the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering area of ​​Ciber-bbn since 2011; Director of the Andalusian Center for Nanomedicine and Biotechnology (BIONAND) since February 2014. Since 2002 he has been Vice-President of the Malagueña Academy of Sciences.
