Biography
Graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1977 and Doctorate of the same specialty in the year 1984, both in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Malaga. He has been a professor at the UMA since 1986. Professor of Physiology at the University of Málaga since 2002, he worked in the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) where he specialized in neurobiology. Investigator research projects, his scientific work in the study of chemical neurotransmission in the central nervous system author more than a hundred publications in this field. Between 1998 and 1991 he was director of the University School of Sciences of the Health. Later it occupied other positions like the one of director of the Residence University (1997-2000), director of Scientific Policy (2000-2003) and president of the ANECA Health Sciences Committee (2003-2005). From 2004 until January 2012 he held the position of Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of Málaga. Since that date it is Vice Chancellor of University Coordination of the UMA.
