Biography
Margarita Pérez Martín has a degree and a doctorate (2000) in Biological Sciences from the University of Málaga. She has been FPD and I pre-doctoral fellow of the Junta de Andalucia, Assistant Professor and Ph.D. Professor in the Department of Cell Biology, Genetics and Physiology at the University of Málaga. Since November 2011 she is Professor of Physiology in the Department. She has been Deputy Secretary (2006-2010) and since 2010 is Secretary of the Faculty of Sciences of the UMA. Her scientific career has been completed with predoctoral stays in various laboratories: Neural Regeneration Laboratory at Cornell University (New York, USA) under the supervision of Professor Steve A. Goldman and Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Neuroendocrinology of the Cajal Institute of CSIC ( Madrid Spain), Where she later held her postdoctoral stay under the supervision of Professor Luis Miguel García Segura. During this period she made several stays in the Laboratory of Behavioral Neuroscience of the University of Lille (Lille, France), collaborating with Dr. Muriel Darnaudery.
Research Interest
Adult neurogenesis in the two neurogenic areas par excellence of the mammalian central nervous system: lateral ventricle and hippocampus, and in new areas such as the hypothalamic region, studying the influence of various trophic factors.
