Biography
Larraitz Zubeldia obtained her PhD in Basque Philology at the University of the Basque Country in 2010. Her dissertation was on the semantics and pragmatics of the Basque particle ‘omen', supervised by Dr. Kepa Korta and Dr. Luis Mari Larringan. She has been a postdoctoral researcher at UCL (2011-2012), with Robyn Carston as a mentor, and at ILCLI (2013), with a fellowship from the Basque Government. She is a lecturer since then, first at the Department of Linguistics and Basque Studies, and since 2015 at the department of Basque Language and Communication at the University of the Basque Country. Her research work is focused mostly on the analysis of the meaning and use of the Basque evidential/modal particles.
Research Interest
Her interests are mostly the semantics and pragmatics of the Basque evidential/modal particles, and other words and expressions used to express modality and evidentiality in Basque, the relationship between epistemic modality and evidentiality, semantics/pragmatics distinction, explicit/implicit meaning distinction, experimental pragmatics and semantics and pragmatics of anaphoric and logophoric pronouns in Basque in particular.
