Research Interest

My research interests are focused on three areas using Trypanosoma cruzi, Leishmania, Giardia duodenalis, Blastocystis, Clostridium difficile, Chlamydia trachomatis, Chikungunya and Candida as model microorganisms. 1) Ecology and evolution of diseases to understand the microbial subpopulations circulating in Colombia and its association with a particular clinical phenotype that allow to propose strategies of control and prevention. Also, to determine epidemiological transmission circuits that can be evaluated under climate change scenarios in order to know the ecology of the diseases. 2) Phylogenomics and comparative transcriptomics to understand the population biology of Giardia, T. cruzi and Leishmania, as well as their profiles of gene expression to understand pathogen / host interactions 3) Development,
